The start of the 2009 - 2010 season and a glorious triumph for our web editor!
The game shown here was played by Gareth Williams, who arrived in Taunton for the WECU Jamboree match with just a minute to spare before being defaulted. Playing 29 minutes behind on the clock he offered a brave pawn sacrifice, and managed to lull his higher-graded opponent Robert Thompson into a false sense of security. Gareth won a queen for rook and took home the point. The game can be replayed here.
4 Trowbridge regulars helped Wiltshire to achieve victory in the annual West of England Chess Union Jamboree, with a crucial win on board 15 for web editor Gareth Williams.
