Here we see a Centre Counter game played by Gareth Williams at the Blackpool Congress. This was the final round so by this time there had been plenty of beer consumed and inevitable fatigue.

The moves  1. e4 d5 2. ed  Q x  d5  allow white to get slightly ahead in development, but white needs a clear plan to exploit that and here he is unable to do so.

Black plays solidly castles queenside and the game ends in a respectable draw with neither side unable to progress further.
